What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.
— Revelation 3:7
Paul and his companions planned a route for distributing the good news of salvation in Christ using the knowledge and wisdom that God had given them. All of their work was done for the glory of God, but the Spirit twice stopped them. Then a door for them to enter Macedonia opened.
With this firsthand knowledge, Paul could advise others to “don’t worry about anything,” instead presenting their requests to God in every circumstance through prayer and petition, along with thanksgiving. And in Christ Jesus, the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds (Philippians 4:6-7).
Prayer:
Merciful God, guide us in all our choices and grant that we make faithful use of all the opportunities and resources you provide. Amen, through Christ.
