1 Corinthians 15:42-43 – “The body that is sown…is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.”
It must be acknowledged that living a long life can be draining. You jumped out of bed every morning when you were 20. Now, when you wake up, you are too exhausted to consider removing your blankets.
Historically, people have looked for a fountain of youth. Ponce de Leon, an explorer, believed he would discover it in Florida. Modern man looks to medical science to help him find it. According to St. Paul, such a fountain can be found elsewhere.
Our Lord Jesus did more than just redeem our souls when he died and rose again. He also restored our physical form. Man fell into the devastation of sin, body and soul. Jesus saved both our souls and bodies.
Therefore, for the Christian, death ultimately results in the body’s deliverance from the frailty and weariness sin has caused. When Christ returns and raises us from the dead, we will have perfect physical and spiritual health for all eternity. And how could it be any different? Our God and Savior, the source of all life, health, and goodness, will always be with us.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me to endure my current weakness and grant me your promised eternal vigour on the day of your return. Amen.
