TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Prevailing Faith
What level of assurance do you have that God will carry out what He has promised? There are many times when we are put in circumstances that make it appear as though the Lord has abandoned us. This is especially true after a protracted period of time has passed with no discernible sign of improvement. Sometimes we arrive at this realisation as a result of basing our expectations on the incorrect aspects of the situation. However, there are also times when the Lord leads us on a lengthy journey of perseverance before the fulfilment of His promises.
When it came to Abraham, this was undeniably the case. The Lord made a promise to Abraham that he would make him a great nation with an uncountable number of descendants, but Abraham did not have children for many years until his wife Sarah was well past the age when she could have children. But despite the fact that Abraham was aware that the situation was impossible on a physical level, his faith in the promise that God had made only grew stronger. He was able to see that the Lord would be glorified even more when the promise was fulfilled in a circumstance that was completely inconceivable to human beings.
