TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
2 Timothy 4:18
2 Timothy 4:18 – The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom.
Though perhaps unpleasant, it is a thought that must be had sooner or later. You find yourself facing it earlier because you’re awaiting major surgery or test results. Death will occur at some point. and what follows?
Not to worry. Everything is under the control of God. Instead of facing the stony, cold darkness of the afterlife, you will experience your Father’s home’s eternal light and warm love. Jesus’ death and resurrection in exchange for your sins have dispelled the gloomy chill of death.
But what about the people you have to abandon? Who will take care of your family and console your loved ones? They will be taken care of by God. He will reassure them with the Gospel’s promise of reunification in heaven, so there will be grief but not hopelessness. While you are gone, you might worry about their physical well-being, but God will take care of them.
The person who has loved and cared for you your entire life will take care of you if you don’t make it, as well as the people you have to leave behind. For the sake of Jesus, offer yourself and them to your devoted Father.
Lord, may your will be carried out. Give me a blessed death if it is my time to leave this world, and look after those I must leave behind. Amen.
