“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us.” -Hosea 6:1
It is common practise to disassemble an item before attempting to repair it. It’s how car mechanics do their jobs, how doctors practise medicine, and it could even be how God operates.
He deconstructs in order to reconstruct. He injures himself in order to get better. He applies pressure to our weak points in order to make us stronger. This is something that we experience when the Lord causes us to fall to our knees in confession and then raises us up in the exultation of his forgiveness.
God asks us to trust him and have patience during the process of getting better. He is completely competent in his work. We are certain that he has love for us. And we have every reason to believe that even this will ultimately serve to our advantage.
Prayer:
Dear God, please bring me comfort in the midst of my suffering by revealing to me that your plan for me is to heal, not to hurt. Amen.
