Hebrews 13:5 – “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Why should the Lord walk with me every day? He has every excuse to leave me. He hasn’t always approved of my lifestyle. He didn’t always enjoy the places I visited. I’ve not always been consistent with my prayer and meditation. In essence, I am a sinner who is unworthy of his love and company.
But right now, oh how I need him. As I lie confined in bed, how I long for his reassuring presence. My current state serves as a constant reminder that eternity is close by and that life is short. I don’t want to face eternity by myself. I am aware that I am not deserving of my Lord’s love or his heaven.
What a blessing it is to hear my Savior’s comforting words. Despite all of my sins and failings, he promises that he won’t abandon me. Because of Jesus’ death and resurrection, I have been declared guiltless in the eyes of God. I also believe that he will be to my best advantage, as my Lord has promised. It’s not just me!
Prayer:
Lord, I appreciate you being my constant companion. Never abandon or leave me. Amen.
