Isaiah 55:8 – “My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” says the Lord.
I’ve gotten a lot of good advice from friends who mean well. One suggests the most recent cure. Someone else has developed a novel medication or therapy. Yet another has just learned about a physician who has outstanding outcomes. I value my friends’ encouragement and thoughtful remarks. However, I am aware that only my Lord truly comprehends what is taking place in my life.
He is the one who sends difficulties and trials for my benefit. I admit that I frequently struggle to recognise or comprehend the “good” in God’s thoughts and ways for my life, but I know that even when an accident or illness knocks me out, he is still working for my benefit.
“We see the underside of the weaving of our pattern of life, but God sees the face side,” one poet once said. The face side is the finished, beautiful product, while the underside is cluttered and unpatterned. I am aware that the eternal life that Christ won for me and all people is part of the “final product.” I will submit to God’s superior judgement in all matters because I am confident in his love and concern for me.
Prayer:
Father, you are wise; help me to submit to your will for my life. Help me to bravely endure the pain if those methods are painful. Amen.
