Matthew 11:28 – Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Recently, restlessness has seemed to be a constant companion. I never stop worrying about my prognosis and diagnosis. I frequently assume the worst. I become agitated. A tranquillizer might offer brief relief, but then the cycle repeats itself.
Thank God, I have a better option for calming my soul than medicine. I’ve been invited by Jesus to find rest in him. My unease is frequently fueled by feelings of shame and depressing hopelessness. However, Jesus has urged me to find comfort in him. My unease is frequently fueled by feelings of shame and depressing hopelessness. However, Jesus has removed my sin and given me a genuine hope. His sinless life and self-giving death fully satiated the requirements of God’s justice. I’ve received forgiveness. His invitation to “Come to me” fills my life with joy and hope. I’ve discovered true rest in him!
Prayer:
Great Physician, grant me the peace that surpasses all comprehension as you heal my troubled thoughts. Forgive my transgressions and represent me before the throne of the Father. Amen.
